American film director, producer, writer, and actor Shelton Jackson “Spike” Lee has announced that he is currently working with 2K Sports for NBA 2K16.

Spike’s involvement is with the game’s MyCareer mode, which the filmmaker is currently writing and directing. Speaking with USA Today, he said that the mode will “follow a kid through the trials and tribulations of being a top high school player and the decisions he has to make.”

He further mentioned that almost ninety minutes of “cinematic narrative” have already been captured during a twelve-day motion capture shoot with 2K Games. According to the developer, that ninety minutes will translate into roughly twelve hours of story content.

It has been confirmed that NBA 2K16 will feature three different cover stars. Stephen Curry, James Harden, and Anthony Davis will have their own individual box covers, and the latest addition of Davis can be seen below.

NBA 2K16 is scheduled for release on September 29 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
