Nintendo is struggling with the Wii U and have found it difficult to gain a notable market share. Big publishers like Ubisoft have dropped support and aren’t releasing their “AAA” titles on the platform.

It could be due to the Wii U’s struggles that Nintendo is already publicly speaking about the existence of their new gaming system, NX. While no specifics about the machine are given, we know a new system is coming.

As for when will details about the new machine Nintendo says it won’t be bringing it up at this year’s E3. In fact, they won’t be sharing much about it until 2016.

Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata said during an investors meeting that they “do not plan on talking specifics about the NX until 2016.”

Presently, we cannot talk about the time period when it [the NX] will go on sale or what it’s like. Because we are calling it a ‘new concept,’ we are not thinking of this as a ‘simple replacement’ for the 3DS or the Wii U.

Also, Nintendo won’t be discussing smartphone devices at E3 as the event is for “dedicated video game machines.” Well, Nintendo not discussing their smartphone plans is sure to be disappointing for those hoping to know more.

Nintendo sharing the existence of a new machine will make matters more complicated for the Wii U. Are things beyond repair for the Wii U?

Nintendo will have to learn from the mistakes they made with the Wii U, if they wish to make NX a success and a serious competitor to Sony’s and Microsoft’s machines.
