Nintendo’s “Integrated Membership Service” Brings Together Several Platforms
Nintendo is planning to bring together several platforms via its new “integrated membership service.” The platforms in question include Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, PC, Mobile devices and the in-development gaming system “NX.”
If you don’t know, NX is a successor to the Wii U. The membership will work as a bridge between these platforms, according to Nintendo.
During a recent meeting with the investors, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata shared more about the new membership program by saying.
The membership service will encompass multiple devices such as our existing Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, the dedicated game system NX, which is currently under development, smart devices and PCs
Our members will be able to visit Nintendo’s website and log in with one ID, and they will receive various services including the ones based on their past purchases and gameplay records as well as services that will be an improved version of the current loyalty program.
Iwata says there will be plenty of benefits for those who use one ID across all platforms. Is it just me or does this sound like a service similar to PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold? One membership across all platform, with benefits. Yeah that pretty much sounds like PS Plus and XL Gold.
Also, Iwata says this service will make playing Nintendo games with friends more fun, regardless of the platform. How much the service will cost or when will it come out is yet to be revealed.
