Overkill’s upcoming game, The Walking Dead, will have 505 Games acting as publisher, the developer announced today.

Slated for a release next year, Overkill Software also confirmed that its new title will be releasing for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Unfortunately no other meaty details were given away for the game. Overkill Software acknowledge the lack of information, but promised to unveil more details later this year.

The same team behind Payday: The Heist, will also be bringing the cooperative experience to The Walking Dead. According to The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, the game will feature a cooperative online mode that will be “Payday-esque,” but in a bigger world. He revealed this during a SXSW panel two months ago.

He furthermore said that a lot of focus is being placed on the interactive online experience, and fans of the series will get to experience the same thrills while playing the game with their friends.

Overkill’s version of The Walking Dead is going to run its own course, introducing a new set of characters and stories, under the guidance of Kirkman. It goes without saying that the storytelling will not leave fans disappointed. Let’s hope that Overkill is able to give us a fantastic cooperative open world experience amongst the undead.
