The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Has No Loading Screens, Except When Fast-Traveling
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is going to feature a massive world, filled to the brim with rich forests, vast mountains, filled cities, eerie swamps, dangerous oceans and more. Hence, it comes as a surprise that the game will feature no loading screens.
According to CD Projekt RED, the only loading screens players will see is when they will be fast traveling. Besides that, players can choose to roam from one end of the world to another in a seamless journey.
“No, there’s no loading times,” said CD Projekt RED’s Jonas Mattsson to GameSpot. “Only when you actually start the game, when [you] die and load the game, or when you fast travel. That fast travel loading time depends on how far you have to travel of course. If you just fast travel a little bit, it’s a really short loading time.
“For us, that was really important. I think we achieved that because, as you said, just going in and out of a building, there’s no loading time. Nothing. It’s just creates this really nice experience.”
The developer also confirmed that there is no such area in the world which cannot be reached without using fast travel, with the exception of a single location over water. This location is isolated from the rest of the world.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will release on May 19 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
