GTA Online: Rockstar Says Social Club Was Not Hacked

You might think your Social Club login details for GTA Online were taken over by someone in the recent days because the Social Club had been hacked by someone. However, Rockstar Games says that is not true.

In a statement recently circulated by the developers, they have clarified that the portal had not been compromised instead it was another website/ database over the internet that leaked the details.

In other words, they are saying your login details had been shared on websites other than Rockstar’s and that is where the information was stolen.

As confirmed yesterday, the Rockstar Games Social Club has not been compromised. However, it appears that attempts have been made to access user accounts using email and password combinations from an unaffiliated, compromised website or database elsewhere on the internet.

So what now, what of the GTA Online user accounts that have been affected and/ or compromised? Rockstar Games insist that you don’t fret, the developers are currently working on getting the access of those accounts back to the real owners:

For the accounts affected, we are in the process of reverting those accounts back to their original owners. As a reminder, it is a good policy to ensure that the Rockstar Games Social Club account username and password is not shared across multiple websites on the internet.

Keep in mind that last suggestion though, try not to give out your login details on other websites!
