MGS5: The Phantom Pain: Did Snake Have a Head Transplant?

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Well, that title might be a little overboard since it is just rumors and speculations that we are talking about; but regardless of all that, it is probably the most interesting thing we have seen about Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain so far.

Okay so let me start from the beginning. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has a doctor that has been shown off by the developers previously. If you have seen him, remember his face and then read on.

Recently, Dr. Sergio Canavero made it to the news with his plans of a head transplant (which surely sounds ridiculous). Have you seen him? If not, check out the two images below.

Now, either the actor who played the doctor is an identical twin of Dr. Sergio Canavero, or Kojima is up to something.

That is what you can clearly see. However, everything that comes after is the fruit of fan speculation.

People are suggesting a theory that Snake got a head transplant in the game. This is being backed by certain tid bits that might or might not be related to this in reality.

For instance, Kojima had once said that “the next project will challenge a certain type of taboo,” and then added that “today, I got an ally who would happily support me in that risk. Although it’s just one person. For a start, it’s good.”

Could he be referring to head transplants and the Russian doctor?

There is more, the doctor in question and his project also seem to have something in common with gaming. For instance, the person who is getting the transplant is allegedly a CG artist and a game development supervisor himself. The doctor has a book about head transplants and it has chapters called HEAVEN and GEMINI.

Also, Kojima has been doing this in the past:

There are other speculations too, but I didn’t mention them as they were going too far. You may read up on them at this NeoGAF thread though.

What do you think, did you guys just uncover the biggest twist in the game’s story?
