Seven ‘No Kardashian Parking Anytime’ Signs Installed in Hollywood
‘NO KARDASHIAN PARKING ANYTIME’ signs have been installed in Hollywood by Los Angeles street artist Plastic Jesus. Mr. Jesus says that these signs are set up as a comment on American obsession with the Kardashians.
I don’t know if it’s just me or the rest of you think like this too, every time the name Kardashian appears, it instantly becomes hot news. The artist tells THR that he has set up seven signs in total, including one outside the DASH boutique owned by Kourtney, Kim and Khloé Kardashian.
Other signs were displayed near The Ivy restaurant on Robertson Boulevard, outside the Urban Outfitters and Cecconi’s West Hollywood on Melrose Avenue.
“The Kardashian family has become ingrained in our culture. We’ve allowed mainstream media to become so profit-driven, we are sacrificing genuine news stories to satiate our vapid celebrity obsessions. I guarantee that same number of paparazzi was far greater than any number of photographers chasing real news.”
The reason Plastic Jesus gives for acting out in this way is that the Kardashians are overshadowing the real news content, which requires air time. He further added that the media is laying their priorities in the wrong place, if given a chance to report ‘real’ news they will rush off.
The artist says it is a protest against these celebrity divas and everything else they do. Mr. Jesus is confused how ‘pumping gas’ in a car is fascinating for viewers. The signs put up on the streets are produced on the specifications of a proper street sign.
However, they are not graffiti resistant which means it can be replaced anytime by another street artist.
