Nina Dobrev is Leaving The Vampire Diaries, What Will Happen to Elena?

Nina Dobrev, The Vampire Diaries’ sweetheart announced this Monday that she will be leaving TVD family after the season finale this May. Dobrev plays the character of Elena Gilbert.

All fans who were planning on getting some answers in the future about Damon-Elena love status are mourning because they are not sure how the producers will some up everything in a few episodes. The surprise announcement has left fans in awe.

Dobrev announced it through her Instagram that she will be leaving TVD and she wanted to break the news to her fans before anyone else. She revealed that her holiday with the cast and crew of TVD at Lake Lanier in Georgia was not just a holiday, it was a farewell.

“I want to be the first to tell you that it wasn’t just a holiday celebration, it was a goodbye party. I always knew I wanted Elena’s story to be a six-season adventure, and within those six years I got the journey of a lifetime.”

Julie Plec, show’s producer issued a statement supporting Dobrev’s decision. She has played a vampire, a human, a crazy immortal and a doppelganger who has been killed, resurrected, tortured and what not.

Although Plec will miss her show’s star but she wishes her all the best and is super excited for the seventh season, which will air without Dobrev.

“Nina is excited to spread her wings, get some rest, travel the world and also take it by storm, and we support her a thousand-fold. We will miss Nina and the four hundred characters she played, but we look forward to the insane and exciting challenge of continuing to tell stories of our Salvatore Brothers and our much-loved and gifted ensemble.”

Nina Dobrev promises her fans that they are yet to experience a season with some epic turns, which no one will even suspect. The Vampire Diaries have been renewed for season seven; the finale for Season Six will premiere in Mid-May.
