Are You an Environment Artist? Crystal Dynamics Wants You for Rise of the Tomb Raider
Crystal Dynamics, the developer behind (timed) Xbox One exclusive Rise of the Tomb Raider is hiring. According to a new job listing, the developer is looking for a Senior Environment Artist.
They want someone with experience of working on AAA titles but before you apply, make sure you have a quality portfolio:
AAA game development experience will be required for this position and a portfolio will also be required. Portfolios should include samples of environment work of equivalent quality and style expected of our upcoming Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Crystal Dynamic is looking to hire a mid-senior level 3D Environment Artist, a person who has achieved “excellence” in this field. Which means Crystal Dynamics wants nothing but the best for their current and future projects.
Speaking of current projects, the team is working on Rise of the Tomb Raider which is expected to hit Xbox One and Xbox 360 this holiday. So those looking to apply should be prepared to work on the game and understand Crystal Dynamics’ vision for the title.

On a related note, 2013 reboot of Tomb Raider has become the best selling game in the franchise to date. Which is a surprise considering Square Enix expected to suffer a loss. The game moved 3.5 million copies in the first month of release, but Square Enix said they expected somewhere between 5-6 million.
Hmm.. Is that the reason they made a deal with Microsoft to make Rise of the Tomb Raider exclusive to Xbox? Surely MS would have paid a lot.
Anyways, the game’s lifetime sales now stand at 8.5 million. Which should really make both Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics very happy.
