BioShock Recreated with CryEngine 3 Looks Stunning!
Back in 2007 2K Boston, now known as Irrational Games gave us something that many of us have cherished for a long time. However, there still are fans of the original BioShock game that haven’t quite gotten over it yet.
One such fans is a 3D Artist who went on to pay homage to the game in the form of a recreated scene using CryEngine 3.
Those who have played the game would recognize the scene from the opening of the game when the player makes it to the underwater city for the first time.
When you see the video above you are surely going to praise the visual upgrade that the 3D artist has managed to ring to the game over what it originally looked like running on Unreal Engine 2.5
CryEngine 3 was released two years after BioShock was released i.e. in 2009 and still widely used by developers. Some of the games that have recently made use of it include Star Citizen and Evolve.
Here’s what the artist had had to do in order to achieve the results:
I loved working on this project, because it forced me to push myself further, having to learn Zbrush for the sculptures and becoming more involved with CryEngines Trackview, Flowgraph and audio systems.
I would like to further push this scene in the future by involving the player into the animations and extend the scene to Rapture itself.
So tell me, doesn’t this make you want to play a remastered version of the original BioShock game?
