From Software’s Shadow Tower Releases This Week as PS1 Classic

By   /   Mar 29, 2015

From Software’s classic role-playing game Shadow Tower will be inciting nostalgia amongst players when it lands on the PlayStation Network this week.

Revealed last month through a listing on ESRB’s website and confirmed now through a recent episode of the PlayStation Blogcast, Shadow Tower will be releasing as a PS1 Classic for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and PSP. The PlayStation 4 community will unfortunately have to miss out on this opportunity to experience From Software’s earlier works.

The game is said to take cues from the King’s Field games that were released before it, and the Souls games that came after. Of course, it being a classic release, there will be some differences in the general experience. For example, Shadow Tower does not award experience for kills and there is no soundtrack behind it.

Originally released in 1998, Shadow Tower will now see to a re-release on March 31. A pricing for the game has not been revealed but most PS1 Classic games currently available on the PlayStation Network range between $6.99 and $9.99. Hence, it’s safe to assume that Shadow Tower will lie somewhere between this.
