Destiny Is Getting More Vault Space With Update 1.1.2
Vault space in Destiny is not really enough is it? Because most of us have multiple characters, so storing our possessions becomes a problem sometimes due to limited slots in the vault.
Thanks to Bungie, we will have more space to store our items, the developer announced in post.
“Vault Space – We know you need more space to collect all the treasures you gain from your missions, and more gear is on the way.”
So how much more space are we talking about? After the update goes live sometime in April. Players will be able to store 24 pieces of armor, 36 weapons and 24 general items.
Previously, we were only allowed to carry 20 of each. If the increase is still not enough, then rest assured Bungie has plans to further expand Vault space.
There is one question I would like to ask here. What took Bungie so long to add more slots? I mean Vault space is one of the most requested features. Thankfully, Bungie has an answer for us all.
“Our challenge was to provide an increase in storage that fit within the memory constraints that limit how many items can be displayed on one screen. This had to be accomplished by a team who is simultaneously working on future content.”
The content being referred to is House of Wolves DLC. If you don’t know, we are close to its release and the update in question will also prepare the game for its arrival.
So how exactly they overcame memory limitations? UI Engineering Lead Brad Fish says they had to disable the item comparison feature in Xbox 360 and PS3. The feature will remain the same in Xbox One and PS4.
So that means if they are to add more slots in the future, they would have to disable more features? Due to this problem, it’s also possible that last-gen consoles may not get anymore slot expansions in the future.
