Sony Announces Verified Accounts for PlayStation Network
Amongst the many features brought to the PlayStation Network through the recent PlayStation 4 firmware update 2.50, Sony has now also introduced Verified Accounts.
This feature is designed for game developers, producers, designers, community managers and other industry professionals. All verified PSN accounts will have a badge on them in the form of a checkmark next to their name. The concept is very similar to that of Twitter’s and Facebook’s.
According to Chris Owen, English Community Manager at PlayStation Europe, there’s no application process. This means that it’s up to Sony to verify accounts that they deem qualified.
On other social media platforms, any individual with a large following can apply to get a verified tick on their page/profile. With Sony though, that feature is only going to cater professionals in the industry.
Sony has already verified many accounts for their own developers. You can see Chris Owen’s profile beneath to see how the badge looks.
