Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal are in final talks with fashion designer Tom Ford, who will be directing his second movie ‘Nocturnal Animals’. A Single Man released in 2009 was his directorial debut.

Although sources say that they are still in the early process of casting, The Hollywood Reporter breaks the news about Gyllenhaal already getting the spot as the male lead.

Ford will be multitasking with this project, as he will be writing the script, directing and producing the movie. Grant Heslov and George Clooney will accompany Ford through their banner ‘Smokehouse Pictures’.

The movie is based on the novel “Tony and Susan” written by Austin Wright. It can be categorized as a ‘Story Inside a Story’ with two sub plots. First subversion revolves around a woman named Susan, whose ex-husband sends her a manuscript asking about her opinion. The couple separated 20 years back.

The second plot follows the path of the manuscript received by Susan titled ‘Nocturnal Animals’. The story of this script focuses on how a man’s vacation turns lethal. It further continues onto Susan exploring her darker side and eliciting her first marriage.

According to sources, Joaquin Phoenix and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are also being considered for possible roles.

Amy Adams will be next seen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, releasing in 2016 reprising her character Lois Lane and in Story of Your Life. Jake Gyllenhaal has Everest, Southpaw and Demolition on his plate.
