Star Trek 3 might be looking at Idris Elba for a major Super Villain character in the upcoming feature.

According to sources, Elba is in the early talks with producers and creators for a massive role in Star Trek 3.

Justin Lin will be directing the latest Star Trek while Pegg and Doug Jung will be writing the script. J.J. Abrams will be producing the feature followed by David Ellison and Bryan Burke.

Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Chris Pine, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg and Zoe Saldana are likely to return.

Roberto Orci revealed bits about the plot of Star Trek 3 claiming that it takes the crew into a “Deep Space”.

“In [Into Darkness] they set out finally where the original series started. The first two films – especially the 2009 [Star Trek] – was an origin story. It was about them coming together. So they weren’t the characters they were in the original series.

They were growing into them and that continues on in the second movie. So in this movie, they are closer than they are to the original series characters that you have ever seen. They have set off on their five-year mission. So their adventure is going to be in deep space.”

Elba has Bastille Day, Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Jungle Book and A Hundred Streets hitting cinemas in times to come.

Star Trek 3 is expected to start production in June.
