Legend of Zelda Netflix Series Rumors Negated by Satoru Iwata

Back in February we talked about an alleged Legend of Zelda based TV series for Netflix. While the rumors got many of the fans excited, they were – after all – just rumors.

In a recent interview with TIME, Satoru Iwata the president and chief executive officer of Nintendo Co. Ltd. (he is also the chief executive officer at Nintendo of America) was asked if there was any truth behind the speculations regarding a live action Zelda series.

In his reply he pointed out towards the Wall Street Journal article where the news originally surfaced from and stated that it was not based on facts:

As of now, I have nothing new to share with you in regard to the use of our IPs for any TV shows or films, but I can at least confirm that the article in question is not based on correct information.

Well, it would have been awesome if the Legend of Zelda series was going to be a real thing, whether on Netflix or not.

However, the blame is on us for keeping the hopes high because we know Nintendo and we know how uptight they are about their IPs as well as information on unannounced projects.

So all that fuss was for nothing, apparently. May be we should spend some time watching the Legend of Zelda TV series from 1987 shall we?
