No Other God of War Remastered Version Being Planned, Says Sony Santa Monica

Sony Santa Monica has made it clear that it has no plans to remaster God of War and God of War II for a re-release on the PlayStation 4.

The news comes just days after it was announced that a God of War III: Remastered version will release for Sony’s new console this summer. Aaron Kaufman, the studio’s Community Strategist, posted on the PlayStation Blog this weekend that there are “no plans for others in the franchise to bring over.”

The news of God of War III: Remastered was met with surprise, because I for one have no issues with the PlayStation 3 version. The game still looks beautiful on the last-gen console and if there was indeed any plan for a remastered installment in the franchise, the first couple of releases were more deserving.

“We hear you and that’s OK, remasters often help us open the door to new players who perhaps did not play God of War 3 5yrs ago,” wrote Kaufan, “but who we can bring it to on the PlayStation 4.

People often forget, the more players we can bring into a franchise, the better for everyone. At Santa Monica Studio, we’d like as many PlayStation fans to experience our games as possible, form generation to generation.”

Rumors have been floating about a God of War IV project that’s still being kept under wraps. If the stars in the cosmos deem it so, we’ll get an announcement at E3 2015.
