Sid Meier’s Starships Errors, Bugs, Crashes, Full Screen, Save Game and Fixes

By   /   Mar 13, 2015

Sid Meier’s Starships might be a small game costing only $14.99 but it doesn’t mean that it’s short of fun. The game deviates from the hardcore civilization experience we have got used to over the years providing us a more casual gameplay.

Now since the game is not that big, it should have fewer problems than the usual AAA titles. But a game without a single issue for all the users is only a dream so Starships does come with its fair share of problems.

We have shortlisted the common issues being faced by the users along with the possible fixes. So feel free to browse through if you are also hunting for a fix/workaround.

#1 Sid Meier’s Starships Full Screen Issue
By default, the game does offer you to switch between full screen and windowed mode from the settings. If that isn’t enough for you, try pressing F11 as it seems to have fixed the issue for some. There might be a patch to address the issue officially as there have been multiple reports about getting a proper full screen.

#2 Sid Meier’s Starships – The Game Crashes After Intro Videos
If your game is being crashed after the intro videos are over, you should try disabling Steam Overlay. This will fix the problem.

If that doesn’t work, you need to run the appropriate executable file according to your OS. If you are using a 32-bit OS, the 64 bit .exe for Starships won’t work for you.

#3 Sid Meier’s Starships – Crash Fix for Laptop Users
If you are a laptop user, you should make sure that the game is being run using your dedicated GPU (Nvidia/AMD) and not the integrated one (Intel cards). Most of the crashes seem to have been fixed by selecting the appropriate GPU which can be done using the control panel of your GPU manufacturer.

#4 Sidmeier’s Starships – Save Game Issue
You can use the menu on the top right side to save the game. If the feature is not working normally for you, try verifying your game files and make sure that you are running the game using admin privileges.

#5 Sid Meier’s Starships – Missing Exectuatble File
First thing you need to do is verify your game files using Steam. If that doesn’t help, restart Steam and try downloading the game again.

#6 Sid Meier’s Starships – Achievements Leaderboadrs Not Working
Although the updates on Achievements and Leaderboards are instant, there seems to be an issue as these stats are being delayed for a few hours. For now, be patient but we might see the service getting back to normal in the future. Needless to say that if you are not connected to Steam or Gamecenter, you won’t be getting any stats.

#7 Sid Meier’s Starships – End Button Bug
It’s a known issue and should be fixed in future patches. For now, after taking one of the many available actions, the button will reappear so it’s not really a game breaking bug.

If you are facing any other issues or have a fix of your own, share with us in the comments below.
