Titanfall 2 Confirmed by Respawn to be Multi-Platform
Titanfall 2 is in development for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, Respawn Entertainment has confirmed.
Speaking with IGN, CEO Vince Zampella said that they have broken down a secondary development team that is focusing on “small, exploratory, stuff.” They are not rushing into development and will take their time.
He did confirm about the game being multi-platform, as opposed to the first game which was released only on Xbox and PC platform as part of an exclusivity deal.
Zampella did mention that Respawn is thinking about changing the DLC model for the new Titanfall game. He quoted Evolve as an example, where they would be releasing free maps for everyone rather than multiple maps in purchasable packs.
“I think that’s a fantastic way to do it. think having the maps like that in packs, it does split the community and it makes it harder for matchmaking, it’s messy. Yeah. I don’t know [that] we won’t do it again, I can’t say that for sure, but the idea would be to do something different.”
The community would hope that the plan just sticks to that aspect only. Evolve received a lot of flak for its DLC model, where an incredible amount of miniature features were set behind a pay-wall. Titanfall 2 would want to refrain from going there.
The new installment is also looking to “expand the lore” but there was no confirmation on whether this means we’ll be getting a longer and more deeper single-player component.
Titanfall was released in March last year to astounding reviews. The arcade shooter was embraced by everyone, but somehow by the end of the year, it’s popularity had dwindled. Many decided to move on to other shooters.
Such folks would be hoping that the new installment has more offerings to get them hooked.
