The Witcher 3: Developers Tested an Ice Skating Feature for the Game

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developer CD Projekt Red hosted a panel at PAX East. During the event a number of interesting details were shared but the most notable is an ice skating feature in The Witcher 3.

Did you know that the game was tested with an ice skating feature that was later cut from the game? According to game designer Damien Monnier: “At some point we had the idea of ice skating. It was more than an idea–it was actually a prototype. You were going to ice skate and fight.”

He further adds: “You could slice heads and the blood goes on the ice and it’s beautiful, and you’re so fast as well. I really liked it.”

The feature would have been available at the end of The Witcher 3, but for reasons unknown was cut from the final build. It is unfortunate that we wouldn’t get to see Gerald ice skating as it really sounds like a lot of fun.

The Witcher 3 is expected to be released in May and has so far been delayed twice. If it manages to come-out in May, you can grab a copy for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC for $60.

Would you have liked to take Garald out for ice skating, while chopping off some heads at the same time? Let us know what you think in the comments.
