Penny Dreadful Season 2 Trailer is Creepy, Clarifies the Plot

Showtime’s gothic horror show Penny Dreadful received a new season 2 featurette revealing some major plot details and one-liners from the cast and crew.

Season one’s backbone was to save Malcolm’s daughter who was not ready to be saved. It focused on establishing the characters, their past and their relationship.

Season 1 ended with most of the characters realizing who they actually are and what they are meant to be. Now that the introduction process is over, Season 2 brings us the most heart-thumping story. This transformation and realization holds heavy price and concerns.

The new featurette reveals how the arrows have backfired, ‘the hunters have now become the prey and that the devils’ servants are coming for their soul.’ This season begins with a new journey, a journey that will not fill their lives with colors but a journey that is ugly.

A journey to fight their inner demons. This time around the speed has multiplied. “Now the world’s set up and the train leaves the station and it goes very, very fast” adds Helen McCrory.

Ethan, played by Josh Hartnett, has transmuted into a werewolf who has sworn to protect Vanessa (Eva Green). Malcolm, whose mission was to save his daughter, has sacrificed her for Vanessa.

Brona (Billie Piper) is caught in Victor Frankenstein’s mind spell, and he is ready to be a part of his Creation (Rory Kinnear).

Vanessa asks in the featurette from Ethan, ‘Do you think the past can return?’ and he replies with, ‘It never leaves us’. So there is a common perception that something from the past is coming back in this season. Maybe the witches or the devil himself.

This season gives a new very fragile and out of control Vanessa and glimpse of how they have all come closer as a family which makes breaking them difficult. You have to be ready as Showtime brings you a Brittle, Tragic and Scary story and it will not be easy to vanquish the dark forces.

Penny Dreadful airs on Showtime April 16, 2015 at 10pm.
