Kudo Tsunoda of Microsoft to Lead New Development Teams in New Role
Kudo Tsunoda, the creative force behind projects like Xbox Kinect and the upcoming HoloLens, will be taking a new role at Microsoft.
The announcement came on the official Xbox site, which also has a full interview of Tsunoda. Kudo will take up the role of leading the approach and vision of portfolio investments in the United States, Europe and across Microsoft’s Global Publishing team.
However, according to the site, the likes of Halo, Gears of War, Forza and Minecraft franchises will continue to report to Xbox boss Phil Spencer.
Tsunoda’s work will be in parallel to Spencer’s, as he’ll focus on development studios like Rare, Lionhead Studios, and Lift London, teams like Press Play, and third-party publishing partners like Platinum Games.
In the interview, there were other highlights of some shifting and slight alterations in Microsoft’s general game development and management structure as well.
Microsoft’s HoloLens development seems to be picking up speed as Lionhead Studios boss John Needham moved to Redmond for the very purpose. Similarly, Big Park general manager Will Mozell will become the general manager of Microsoft Studios Canada.
One specific part of the interview that will intrigue Xbox users is the promise of something new coming up for the next installment in the famous third-person shooter franchise Gears of Wars. Nothing concrete was given, but there were suggestions of some kind of revelation coming up ‘soon’.
You can check out the full interview on the official website for further insight.
