Elite: Dangerous Will Eventually Release for the PlayStation 4
Elite: Dangerous is going to launch first on the Xbox One and later down the line for the PlayStation 4, Frontier Developments has confirmed.
The space adventurer and combat simulator was announced yesterday by Microsoft’s Phil Spencer to make its Xbox One debut this year. The announcement however, made it sound like the game was releasing as an exclusive title for the Xbox One.
Today, Frontier Developments’ founder David Braben responded on Twitter, clarifying that there is a temporary exclusive time-frame for the Xbox One port. Elite: Dangerous will release for the PlayStation 4 but will so once the exclusivity period has finished. There’s currently no information on the duration of the exclusivity.
“Down the line we will support more, including PS4. The XB1 is a timed exclusive,” said Braben.
The Xbox One version is going to include all content added to the PC version by February’s Community Goals content update and March’s Wings content update. Since the PS4 version is going to release on a later date, we can expect it to include other updates that follow after the Xbox One’s release.
Elite: Dangerous was released on PC last year in December.
