Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Themed PlayStation 4 Console Announced for Japan

By   /   Mar 4, 2015

Sony and Konami have announced a special edition PlayStation 4 console for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

The console comes with an elegant red finishing, in a way reproducing the colors of Snake’s artificial arm. The accompanying controller on the other hand is inspired by his gun and does not match the console’s color scheme.

According to the announcement, the special edition console variant will be released for the Japanese market and there’s no clarification on if and when it will reach the western shoes.

I’ve been pretty vocal about not liking Sony’s previous attempts at specially themed PlayStation 4 consoles. This one however surely qualifies as a collectible. It will be disappointing if it never is released outside of Japan.

Sony has yet to reveal the pricing on the unit.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will release worldwide on September 1, 2015. According to an earlier statement by series creator Hideo Kojima, this will be his final Metal Gear Solid game and that he’ll be wrapping up the entire story which has spanned across multiple titles.
