Star Citizen and Elite: Dangerous to Add Leonard Nimoy Memorials
Both Elite: Dangerous and Star Citizen plan to host memorials in-game to pay tribute to the passing of Leonard Nimoy.
The actor best known for his role as Spock in the Star Trek series, also narrated Civilization 4’s built-in encyclopedia. Upon the news of his passing at age 83, over a thousand players logged into the once popular Star Trek Online MMO just to pay their respects to Spock.
The pledge saw the two upcoming space games to honor the actor as well. Elite: Dangerous plans to add the Nimoy Memorial Station into the game in its upcoming Wings update, which brings the game up to version 1.2. As for Star Citizen, Cloud Imperium Games will be adding a similar memorial for players to visit and experience once the game launches.
“I think it’s safe to say that Mr. Nimoy was an inspiration to all of us on the team, both acting as Spock and because of his core, kind humanity. We will find an appropriate way to honour him,” said Star Citizen’s community manager Ben Lesnick.
It would be even better if Star Citizen would add an entire planet just for that purpose. It would be pretty captivating.
