NBA 2K14 Servers Shutting Down in March
Anyone who still plays NBA 2K14, that released back in 2013, should prepare for a server shutdown. 2K has announced that online section of NBA 2K14 will be put on ice starting March 31.
This means players won’t be able to play the game online but will still have offline modes at their disposal. When the game was released two years ago, it had numerous server side issues on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The version released for the new consoles, is dependent on connection with 2K Sports servers in order to access save files for certain modes.
This raises concerns, as it is possible that access to those save files will no longer be possible even if players wanted to use them offline. The post which revealed the upcoming server shutdown failed to address this concern. This actions does not affect 2K15, whose servers are expected to remain online until we are close to the release of 2K17.
2K is yet to comment on the matter but we’ll let you know as soon as they give an explanation.
The latest entry in the series, NBA 2K15, was released late last year and we can expect an official announcement to be made regarding 2K16 soon. For more on that, stay-tuned to SegmentNext.
Is 2K right to shutdown servers after a couple of years? Or should they give it more time? Let us know what you think in the comments.
