Alright peeps, if you thought that only making a return to the market with a new Mortal Kombat title was going to be enough for NetherRealm Studios, you were wrong.

Apart from developing Mortal Kombat X for the major platforms as well as PC, NetherRealm Studios have now announced a mobile version of the game too!

A new trailer was released where they revisited the journey of the fighting game through the nineties up until the previous title and then boasted of a “new era” which translates into an iOS and Android version of Mortal Kombat X.

Ed Boon the Creative Director of NetherRealm Studios says that they will not only let more people play the game but also expand the cross-connectivity to include mobile platforms:

NetherRealm Studios has created a Mortal Kombat X mobile experience that allows more players than ever before to play this over-the-top fighting game through their ever-present smartphones, tablets or other devices. What’s more, we’ve expanded the unique cross-connectivity feature that links the mobile and console versions of Mortal Kombat X, delivering unique rewards to all players for simply playing the mobile game.

They have also announced that Mortal Kombat X mobile version will be released in April to iPad, iPhone, iPod touch and Android. While they didn’t announce a specific release date, I think that it won’t accompany the PC and console versions.
