How Microsoft Helped Rise of the Tomb Raider Since a While

We don’t know when Rise of the Tomb Raider will come out, but we do know that Crystal Dynamics is putting their best into making this Microsoft exclusive a hit.

Publisher Square Enix is super excited about it but since they are partnered with Microsoft Studios, some might wonder how exactly is Microsoft helping with the game. Don’t worry, they have answered it for you.

Darrell Gallagher the head of Square Enix western studios was discussing Rise of the Tomb Raider with GameInformer where he went back in time and shared how exactly has Microsoft been a pivotal element in the development of the game.

The first think that Gallargher revealed was that it wasn’t just this title that brought them together. In fact they have been collaborating since 2008 when Tomb Raider Underworld was getting DLCs.

He said that since the franchise has been there for two decades, it could have survived even without Microsoft’s support but they did really help them “achieve what we want with Rise of the Tomb Raider.”

Heavy advertisements that Microsoft will put in place is also going to boost the reach of the game, he said – although the game is timed exclusive.

As of now, we know for a fact that the game looks gorgeous, is going to have supernatural elements, more puzzles and tombs, and regardless of what we have seen so far, it is going to feature locations other than the snowcapped Siberia too.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is being developed for Xbox 360 and Xbox One and it is expected to roll out in this year’s holiday season. We still don’t have a specific release date but hopefully, we will soon – stay tuned for more!
