The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s Dev Clarifies Skills & Armor
CD Projekt RED has provided more details to clarify just how skills and armor will work in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Taking some excerpts from the official forums, we see that combat will highly depend upon your skill choices. Stamina and Adrenaline are resources that have to be managed, while other skills are to be activated throughout combat.
Banking on a couple of elements alone might not prove beneficial in the long run. Players must hone themselves in casting signs, parrying and dodging attacks, and using sword play to defeat opponents. Some skills will even grant you special attacks.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has three different types of armors: Light, Medium and Heavy. Each grants you favors in specific ways. For example wearing heavy armor will allow you to be a more aggressive sword-fighter. Players however can also choose to mix different armors to balance bonuses they offer.
As for the game’s skills system, there are five groups: Swordsmanship, Alchemy, Signs, Miscellaneous, and Mutagens. Skills get unlocked upon leveling up your character. These can then be placed in the twelve allotted slots. Mutagens will grant you four additional slots and modify skills to make them stronger.
In a nut shell, the game’s mechanics are fairly deep and require extensive play to master. Seeing that the game has a ton of content, that doesn’t sound too bad and players will have plenty of time to warm up.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is due for release in three months for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
