Batman: Arkham Knight To Introduce Aerial Gadgets For Effective Navigation
The Caped Crusader has never had a lack of gadgets to aid him in his quest for justice, but I always found him a little deprived in air. With the exception of Dive-Bomb and Glide Kicks, there isn’t much Batman can do while hovering in the air.
In Batman: Arkham Knight, however, Rocksteady Studios is heading in a new direction. Speaking to GamingBolt, Gaz Deaves, Social Marketing Manager for Rocksteady Studios, mentioned a range of currently unannounced gadgets at Batman’s arsenal:
One of the best things about working with Batman is thinking of new ways to use gadgets to solve problems. We haven’t talked about the new gadgets that we’re adding to Batman’s utility belt yet, but on top of all the new tools you’ll have access to, one of the things we wanted to do this time is expand on how some of our classic Arkham gadgets can be deployed.
Speaking of current gadgets’ expansion, Deaves stated that in the upcoming installment, players will be able to use Batarangs while gliding. Furthermore, keeping the larger Gotham City and increased verticality, players will be able to use the Grappling Hook in quick succession to ease navigation:
So you can now use gadgets while you’re airborne – for example, throwing batarangs into a group of thugs to thin them out before you engage on foot. Some gadgets have been upgraded in response to the bigger design decisions we made in the game. For example, the skyscrapers in Gotham city are extremely tall, so to make navigation feel more natural, we’ve added a new chain grapnel that allows you to quickly ascend them by grappling multiple times in quick succession.
Batman: Arkham Knight is scheduled to release on Jun. 2, 2015 for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
