Here is some good news for PSN users across the globe. Users with PSN Sub Accounts can now be upgraded to a Master Account. The ability to upgrade was requested by numerous fans and finally, Sony responded to feedback.

The news was announced via a post on PlayStation blog, which revealed that you’ll be able to upgrade an account first through the web and later through PlayStation 4.”

Here’s how you can upgrade your account by following a few simple steps. However, it will only work for sub account holders who are 18 or above.

Head to the PlayStation Entertainment Network or sign-in via the PlayStation app. Now perform the following:

1: On the Dashboard, Select “Upgrade Your Account” option
2: Agree to the terms and conditions (I would advise you to read them first but seriously, who does that?)
3: If the upgrade doesn’t work immediately, Sign out and then back in.
4: Enjoy all the Master Account perks.

Speaking of perks, here’s a list of features you’ll be getting after the process as revealed by Sony.

  • Control your own account. Make your own choices.

  • Keep your Online ID, trophies and Friends list.

  • Carry over all your games, videos, music and services.

  • Fund your own wallet and buy whatever you want.

The only feature I want to see now on PSN is the ability to change our names. It’s one of the most requested features but for some reason Sony hasn’t yet added it. Let’s see how long it takes for Sony to add it as well.
