Mortal Kombat X May Feature Brutality, NetherRealm Teases

During yesterday’s stream of Mortal Kombat X, developer NetherRealm teased an exciting feature that hasn’t been seen an MK game for a while. The feature in question is brutality, a brutal big brother of fatality.

Developers promised to be back with new and exciting content in an upcoming live stream. However, NetherRealm avoided committing to a solid date for this live stream:

“We do have another stream coming up really soon — probably sooner than you think — can’t give you a date right now, but let me tell you this: it’s going to be brutal.”

This is not the first time we heard about brutalities coming back. During a recent video break down of Mortal Kombat X’s different game modes, an eagle-eyed YouTube user a saw screen that suggested a 10% XP boost after performing a brutality.

Brutalities were first introduced way back with the release of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 for Super NES and Sega Genesis.

For those who don’t know what a brutality is, it allows players to perform a long combo by rapid input of different buttons. In the end, you can bet that your opponent won’t be standing back up.

It’s been a while since we last saw this feature and it will be great news if brutalities are coming back. Mortal Kombat X is heading to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC starting April 14.
