New BioWare IP, Next Dragon Age Game, SWTOR Discussed

A lot has come up from the makers of Dragon Age Inquisition in the past day. For instance we reported yesterday that Shadow Realms has been scrapped.

While this must have hurt a lot of plans that fans of the game had, it also paved way for new future plans for BioWare Austin as well other studios of the developer, like SWTOR, the next Dragon Age game and a brand new IP they are working on.

The General Manager of BioWare Austin, Jeff Hickman believes that while Shadow Realms will be taking a lot of their efforts with it, there is exciting prospect for some of the franchises that already exist as well as some new games:

Right now there are other projects for the team to work on within the BioWare studios for the coming year and beyond. We’ve got an incredibly talented team here at the Austin studio, and they are excited and already deep on new projects within the BioWare family, ones that will make some great BioWare games even better.

He then detailed what exactly did he mean by other projects. According to him, Dragon Age Inquisition is going to get “enhancements” while Mass Effect 4 is also going to be worked on. Last but not the least, he mentioned a “new IP” that is in development as we speak.

Do keep in mind that EA has announced they will not be releasing the next Dragon Age game this year. Which means that 2016 might be the year of the next Dragon Age game.

As far as BioWare Austin is concerned, they are primarily going to focus on SWTOR because they have “some great plans for expanding this epic game this year, and look forward to sharing the news about those plans with our players in the coming weeks.”

So what do you think? Is all this compensation enough for Shadow Realms being scrapped?
