We know how the Dawn Engine is going to be used in any and all Deus Ex Universe titles coming our way in the future. GDC 2015 might just give us a glimpse of how the future games are going to look like – or at least how the character’s hair is going to look like in them.

The official website of Game Developers Conference (GDC 2015) lists all the panels that are going to take place at the event. Among the list is a sponsored session titled “Augmented Hair in Deus Ex Universe projects: TressFX 3.0” that will be presented by AMD.

The event will revolve around AMD TressFX 3.0 which will be shown off with the help of the augmented hair technology that is going to be a part of future Deus Ex Universe projects.

According to the schedule Uriel Doyon, 3D Programmer at Eidos Montreal and Jason Stewart MTS, Software Engineer at AMD will be presenting how the Dawn Engine is going to make use of the technology. Here’s an overview:

In this talk, engineers from Eidos and AMD detail the TressFX 3.0 solution used in Dawn Engine which will be the cornerstone to the development of the Deus Ex Universe projects at the studio. We show how Eidos graphics engineers built upon TressFX to break new grounds and deliver a realistic and scalable hair solution in the Dawn Engine for PC and consoles. With a focus on game requirements such as artistic control and animation support this talk will cover the practical considerations of a full TressFX pipeline, from authoring to rendering.

Simulation related areas like “collisions, shape preservation, stretching, and wind” are also going to be discussed later on alongside rendering techniques and more.
