Report: Legend of Zelda TV Series Coming to Netflix

By   /   Feb 7, 2015

Legend of Zelda games are among the most popular franchises around the world. I don’t know about you but for a while, I have been wishing for it to be turned into a television show. Thankfully, it seems my prayers are heard and Legend of Zelda will soon be turned into a Tv series on Netflix.

Reports are that Netflix is developing the series based on this game, we’ll see Link risking his life to rescue princess Zelda and save the fantasy world we all know as Hyrule.

Development is in early stages and Netflix is looking for suitable writers. Sources close to the company claim that Netflix is describing this series as a “Game of Thrones” for family audience, that’s interesting to know.

I guess that’s because some elements of Zelda games are similar to Game of Thrones, such as sorcery and swords. However, instead of a grim, dark and mature take on all this, Zelda games are kids friendly and fun to play with family.

The Wall Street Journal claimed on Friday that Netflix and Nintendo are working closely on the project. Netflix said they do not comment on rumors or speculation, while Nintendo is yet to say a word.

The Legend of Zelda series made its debut back in 1987 in US and has so far seen 20 installments. Its been almost 30 years and the title is still loved by millions. The late Robin Williams even named his daughter Zelda, after the game’s princess.

This is certainly exciting news as fans would love to see a television show based on Zelda games. Hopefully, either Nintendo or Netflix will confirm the news soon.
