League of Legends Exploit Enables Hackers To Spend Victim’s RP/IP Using PC Browsers
League of Legends players are currently reporting an exploit on social media, allowing hackers to gain access to the in-game store via PC browser and spend victim’s RP and IP currency to make purchases.
You can watch the featured video above and see ‘Imaqtpie’ and ‘Nightblue3’ falling victim to the said exploit.
There is a Reddit thread dedicated to the hack with people sharing their experiences and how the exploit actually works. Like I mentioned above, the idea is to access the in-game store using a PC browser and knowing player credentials.
Riot Games is currently aware of the situation and is trying to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
Replying to a post on the same Reddit thread, a Riot spokesperson stated that they are trying to fix the issue and will refund all stolen IP and RP currencies:
We’re getting this fixed right now, though we can’t speak to the specifics of the exploit or the explanations fellow Redditors have been offering. What we can say is that we can see everyone who was hit by an attack, and we’ll be returning all RP/IP that was lost.
He continued by stating that player information like credit card details are safe and not accessible by anyone:
Since the store was involved, we also want to reassure you that this didn’t expose any personal information like credit card numbers. Your data is safe.
I would recommend keeping an eye out on the thread provided above for all recent updates.
