Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will get DX11 Support With Heavensward Launch

Square Enix has been planning on to bring DirectX 11 support to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn since last month, and now it seems that DX 11 days are not that far away.

In a new Letter from Producer, it has been revealed that the game will be upgraded to DX11 with Heavensward expansion.

Director on the game, Naoki Yoshida stated that this change will not bring groundbreaking visuals to the game, but the overall visual quality of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be enhanced.

Please keep in mind that by going from DirectX 9 to DirectX 11, you won’t necessarily see any obvious dramatic changes. Rather, the differences pertain to some of the finer aspects of the game’s graphical quality.

To show what little changes will be brought to the game, Square Enix has released a few screenshots. These images show comparison between DirectX 9 and DirectX 11 versions. Check them out in the gallery below.

As you can see, the differences are minor but they certainly improve the overall graphical quality of the game.

Some details regarding these comparison images, and some other changes that are planned for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, have also been discussed in the letter, which you can check out in detail on the game’s official forums.

What do you think of the enhanced look of the game? Sound off in the comments below!
