Rumour: Assassin’s Creed 2016 to Take Place in Japan
When it comes to Assassin’s Creed games, Ubisoft have a pretty bad track record of keeping things under wraps until an official reveal. Recently, a massive leak suggested that this year’s installment will be set in London and is dubbed and Assassin’s Creed: Victory.
Now, some speculations suggest that Ubisoft is developing an AC game set in Japan. If true, fans will be really happy as they have been asking for it for sometime.
Rumours and speculations gain attention only if they are based on something solid and same is the case with this one.
Back in 2013, Ubisoft released Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Some concept art for the game was also released, drawn by Ubisoft’s Martin Deschambault. In the concept art (posted above), you can see an Abstergo Entertainment lobby area in which some employees are also seen walking around.
Behind the guard sitting at the desk, you can see images of key locations featured in past Assassin’s Creed games and the leaked AC: Victory.
1: Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence from Assassin’s Creed II
2: A tropical Island from Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
3: Notre Dame Cathedral from Assassin’s Creed Unity
4: The Houses of Parliament and Big Ben in London from Assassin’s Creed: Victory
Last and the most interesting image is Sensoji Temple, Japan. You can see the whole gallery below. If this is correct (which it seems to be), Ubisoft gave away the locations of future AC games way back in 2013.
Now the question is, will the next game be released in 2016 or Ubisoft is planning to release two AC games once again. Just like they did last year with Rogue (PS3,Xbox 360) and Unity (PS4,Xbox One and PC). Last-gen consoles are close to the end of their cycle and so it seems unlikely that Ubisoft will release two games after the disaster of Unity.
That leads us to believe that if this information is true, Assassin’s Creed is heading to Japan in 2016.
