Dying Light Crashes, Performance, Stuttering, SLI, Errors and Fixes

How to fix Dying Light Crashes, performance issues, stuttering, long loading times, SLI and various other issues,

Dying Light is probably the first AAA game considering all the titles supposed to come out in 2015. With all the review embargo controversy, many users had doubts about the performance.

From what I can see for the time being, while the game is working great for some, other users are either facing performance issues or are unable to launch the game.

If you too have some issue to fix, you can refer to the following troubleshooting list of workarounds with the possible fixes to most common problems being faced by the gamers at large.

#1 Dying Light Stuttering Fix, Performance Fix
Make sure that you are using the latest version of drivers. Nvidia recently released optimized drivers for Dying Light and if you haven’t got them yet, it’s time for update.

Also, there is a Dead Island workaround which some users believe can also help in getting rid of stuttering issue in Dying Light.

#2 Dying Light Loading Fix
If you are experiencing long loading times then the workaround mentioned in #1 can help you fix the issue. Make sure you follow those steps carefully.

#3 Dying Light Black Screen Fix
Make sure you are running latest version of your GPU drivers. If that’s not the issue, you should try running the game in windowed mode. For that, go to My Documents\dyinglight\out\settings\video.scr and get rid of “Fullscreen()” command.

If you are able to see the screen in windowed mode, try lowering your resolution and refresh rates to match that of your desktop settings.

#4 Dying Light Performances Fixes and Workarounds
Many users are reporting that they are getting FPS drops at certain points of the game which could be due to several factors including poor optimization. In order to improve the performance, you should try disabling depth of field, hbao+, and lowering shadow map size to medium.

It’s more like a hit and trial method for now as you might have to lower some other settings to get the performance boost.

#5 Dying Light Memory Leak Fix
I am not sure whether this will work for you or not but a simple restart can get the job done. You can also try increasing the size of your virtual memory.

#6 Dying Light SLI Stutter Fix
If disabling the SLI isn’t a good option for you and game becomes unplayable, you can try out this workaround. This could help you reduce stutter to a great extent.

#7 Dying Light – How to Enable Oculus Rift
You need to open video.scr file in \Documents\DyingLight\out\settings\ using a text file and remove ! sign from the command !OculusEnabled().

#8 Dying Light Crashes – CrashExit… ResizeBuffers failed 0x887a0005
Make sure you aren’t running any third party applications in the background that could conflict with the game e.g any fps counter or broadcasting tool. If that’s not the case, you should try re-installing your directx.

#9 Dying Light Full Screen Issue
First, you need to press Alt+Enter to go to full screen. If that doesn’t work, try full screen commands in launch options. No luck? you need to open video.scr file in \Documents\DyingLight\out\settings\ using a text editor and add 1 where it says full screen (Fullscreen (1)). Some users have reported that fix #7 has also enabled them to get into full screen.
