Ubisoft Announces Grow Home, A Procedurally-Generated Game For PC

Ubisoft Reflections (the team behind The Crew and Driver franchise) has announced a new procedurally-generated game dubbed Grow Home.

On Wednesday, Ubisoft’s Communications Specialist Anne Lewis laid out the basic idea behind the project which is being handled by a team comprising of 8 members within Ubisoft Reflections.

Grow Home is the story of a Botanical Utility Droid (BUD) who is sent on a mission across the galaxy to discover new species of flora in an attempt to oxygenize his home land:

Grow Home is the story of BUD, a Botanical Utility Droid sent on a mission across the galaxy to seek out a new species of flora to help oxygenate his home world. He finds the perfect specimen in the Star Plant. “We think of the Star Plant like a giant beanstalk.

BUD’s mission is to grow it to maturity and harvest the seeds it produces. The plant ends up being a towering two-kilometer-high bridge from the ground to his space ship.

As the game progresses, players will grow and climb plants to reach new destinations. These plants are procedurally-generated which increases the game’s replay value.

As of this instant, the game is announced for PC only, but the team has stated that the game is meant to be played on a gamepad. Although the game isn’t announced for consoles, hopefully we’ll hear more in days to come.
