Glorious Leader! Kickstarter Campaign Canceled after Getting Hacked
Glorious Leader! Kickstarter campaign has been canceled and developers are now reevaluating the project, after being hacked.
In a statement, developer Moneyhorse explained:
“The hackers destroyed data pertaining to Glorious Leader! and other projects we had in development and locked us out of our own computers and website,” developer said in a Kickstarter update. “The timing couldn’t have been worse as it hampered our ability to attend to the Kickstarter project.”
The goal of their campaign was to raise $55,000 but at the time of hacking, they only managed to raise $16,816. considering this, the developer admits that it wasn’t likely to reach its goal anyway.
Recently, a North Korean hacking group called GOP hacked Sony Pictures over the controversial film, The Interview. It was believed that Moneyhorse hack was also the doing of GOP. But, the developers say that GOP doesn’t seem to be the one behind this attack.
Moneyhouse further added:
“Between the hacking and other threats, we think it is time to reevaluate our commitment to Glorious Leader!” Moneyhorse stated. “We thank our fans and supporters, and we are sorry to let you down.”
Whether they will bring the project back and start this campaign again is uncertain, but fans will surely be disappointed.
In Glorious Leader!, players take the role of Kim Jong Un and go up against the entire US army in a run and gun style 2D game.
