Dota 2 Asia Championship Prize Pool is Above $2 Million!
In the recent couple of weeks, every thing regarding Dota 2 has been good news for the developers and the fans alike. For example, it was announced at the turn of the year that the game had reached 10 million active unique players worldwide!
Then, everyone’s favorite Gabe Newell paid a visit to the game as a glorious shopkeeper.
Now, we have news specifically for the Asian fans of the game. You guys would know about the Dota 2 Asia Championship which is being held in China. If you don’t, find all you can as it got really hotter: the total prize pool for the championship has gone well past the $2 million mark!
At the beginning, the a base prize pool of $250,000 was announced by the organizers but the undying love of fans for the MOBA has led to contributions totalling $1,816,809. Add up the two sums and you get a hefty total of $2,066,809!
The community contributions have been collected from the sale of compendiums and points that bring different rewards for the people who buy them. In total, 25% of all your spendings are sent to the prize pool for the Dota 2 Asia Championship.
On the official website of the championship, details have been provided regarding special rewards that will be unlocked at different levels of prize pool contributions:
As the total prize pool reaches each stretch goal, its rewards will be unlocked for each compendium owner. Some stretch goals also have extra bonuses depending on your compendium level. If you purchase the Compendium after the stretch goals rewards are unlocked, you will also be granted all rewards.
The last special reward that got unlocked was at $1.25 million it is about a Dota 2 Concert by Perfect World.
