DMi Games Announces New NASCAR Title for 2016

DMi Games, a new studio based in Charlotte, North Carolina, is currently working on a new NASCAR title for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The announcement comes after the studio’s acquisition of the license at the start of the year from Eutechnyx to develop and publish games under the NASCAR name. Eutechnyx, which held rights to the series until 2014, will go forward with a new title NASCAR ’15 in spring. This is not a new game actually a season update to last year’s NASCAR ’14 on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

In an open letter to fans, DMi Games president Ed Martin introduced himself and explained how the acquisition was a complex process due to a number of stakeholders involved.

“Just to give you some context, a contemporary NASCAR video game has more than 1,000 licensed and approved properties in it. That’s a lot of stakeholders and people to get organized!”

Martin has been working on NASCAR games since the early ’90s and is a veteran of Hasbro Interactive and EA Sports.

“We are already hard at work on several new games including an all-new NASCAR racing sim created by DMi for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC that we expect to release in 2016,” he explained.

DMi Games also got its hands on some of the assets used in previous NASCAR titles. With more than a year to go in release, we can assume the game to be in its early stages of development. That means we won’t be getting to see anything any time soon.
