Xbox One February Update Introduces Game Hubs and More
After a brief holiday break, Xbox One updates are back in action. The latest February update is now in preview and being tested in beta. The new update is adding a new feature called Game hubs, that will allow the Xbox community to connect more easily.
According Xbox Wire:
game hubs are the go-to centers for all sorts of interesting content around your favorite games. Every Xbox One game will have a game hub where you can see which of your friends are playing the game, compete with your friends in game leaderboards, dive into the coolest game clips and game broadcasts, and follow the game’s VIPs and top players.
Another feature that is a part of the preview is “custom backgrounds and tile transparency.” Microsoft responded to fan feedback and introduced tile transparency to make background images even more visible.
To use a custom background, you must go to Settings > My Xbox > My background.
I was hoping that Microsoft will kick-off 2015 with some major features but a part from the above mentioned details, February update includes a number of TV related features. Which might be disappointing to gamers, but is a good news for those who use the Xbox One for more than just video games.
One of the most interesting feature in the update is the ability for Xbox One TV Tuner owners, in UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy, to stream live TV to Windows and Android devices.
Further details of the update can be read over at Xbox Wire.
