The Decisive Games is Microsoft’s New Studio, Working on a “Beloved Strategy Game”

Microsoft has been pretty active lately with hiring new talent to work with them on various projects. The company posted a number of ads on their website, looking for new staff but one ad stands out and makes us wonder of things to come.

According to this ad, Microsoft is looking for a Software Development Engineer to work with their brand new studio called, The Decisive Games. What’s more interesting is that this studio will focus on strategy games and is working on a sequel of a “beloved strategy game.”

The Decisive Games team is focused on world class strategy game development, and is building a studio that will bring the next installment in a beloved strategy game franchise to the next generation of gamers around the world. This is a highly-collaborative, agile team, with a play-centric approach to game development.

Now what’s the first thing that comes to mind when you read this ad? If you ask me, I’ll say Halo Wars 2. The last time we got excited about Halo Wars 2, was when a teaser site went online, with a countdown timer for a coming announcement. Fortunately, after some digging SegmentNext proved it to be an elaborate hoax. Microsoft later denied any involvement with the fake website.

Halo Wars 2 is one possibility but if we look at the ad again on Microsoft’s website, it states: “Be part of Microsoft Game Studios, and help us create the next-generation of awesome games for Windows and Xbox!”

Windows and Xbox they say, which indicates towards Age of Empires. Xbox fans have been asking for a proper installment on consoles as well. Could this be it?

We have reached out to Microsoft for comment but it is unlikely they will say anything about the new game at this stage. We’ll keep you updated on the developments.
