There is no denying to the fact that eSports is getting popular in the industry. Teams around the world compete against each other in games such as League of Legends and Valve’s Dota 2. And to meet their economical needs, they need investors and eSports events attract some of the biggest names out there.

I believe majority of our young readers will know about the popular website, YouPorn. It’s in no way relevant to gaming and when they announced they are investing in an eSports team, it took a lot of people by surprise. But then again, relevance is not necessary for someone to invest in a team.

YouPorn invested, and the team goes by the name of YP.

YouPorn’s vice president Brad Burns has come forward to explain their company’s decision to invest, and expressed his excitement on being affiliated with the gaming industry.

Burns stated that they are “beyond happy” with the investment they have made. The company wanted to be affiliated with the gaming industry and jumped on the first opportunity which presented itself. He further added:

“The gaming industry is booming,” said Burns. “It has been for some time, and it’s only going to get more popular with the advancements in technology. We felt — being an internet-based company — that it made sense to sponsor an e-sports team. Players and fans spend a lot of time on the internet, so visiting YouPorn for them is pretty easy. It’s just a matter of opening up a new browser.”

Just a matter of opening a browser? That maybe the case but matter goes way beyond after opening the browser!

Team YP is currently training for the coming seasons of Dota 2 and League of Legends. They also just recently finished third in a Spanish Gamergy tournament.
