After Minecraft 1.8 You Will be Able to Change Usernames
Alright this isn’t like a super big news, but Minecraft is not just another game which means that everything related to it is going to be important to many of you.
For instance, it will mean a lot for the game’s fans when it lets them change their usernames officially.
This is not the first time we have heard of username change feature in the game though. Previously, Kristoffer Jelbring who is a developer at Mojang teased the feature with a small image that he tweeted.
You may check it out here.
Now, the support page on the official website of Mojang is shedding some more light on the topic.
While the page says that “this is planned for the future,” it also mentions that the developers don’t have an official release date yet.
Reading further into the details however, we found out that the feature might get introduced pretty soon after the Minecraft 1.8 version. Here’s what Mojang says:
Username changes will not be available before Minecraft version 1.8. This does not mean that 1.8 is the release date for the username change feature.
Username changes will only be available to Minecraft profiles that are on a Mojang account (those that log in with their email address). If you still log in with your username, visit account.mojang.com/migrate to update to the newer account format.
They also stated that while changing the username is going to be free, you will not be allowed to do so for an unlimited number of times. There will be a limit to the number of times you can change the username in a given period of time.
So what do you think about this new feature, would you be glad if you get to change your username or it doesn’t matter?
