Minecraft Reaches 18 Million Sales on PC and Mac

It is being reported that Minecraft has now officially sold more than 18 million copies on the PC and Mac. The game continues to achieve accolades and milestones each year and doesn’t look like it will be toning down its dominating run any time soon.

From the numbers, Minecraft is selling at an average of 17,500 copies a day on PC and Mac worldwide. That’s simply amazing! Looking back, I doubt anyone who saw the game during its initial release ever expected it to be such a wrecking ball in the later years.

The sandbox survival game was released in late 2011 on the PC and Mac. It then arrived on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2013. Last year, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions were released, as well as a PlayStation Vita edition. The game is also available on the Android, iOS and Windows Phone devices.

In September last year, developer Mojang was sold to Microsoft by game creator Markus “Notch” Persson, for 2.5 billion dollars. Recently, he was mentioned to have purchased a house/villa in the Beverley Hills worth $70 million. According to a press release by John Aaroe Group, this is “the highest price ever paid for a home in Beverly Hills.”
