The Last of Us Fan Written Ending Puts The Original To Shame, Says Developer
The Last of Us is considered a masterpiece by millions and to me it had the perfect ending. I never considered the ending of The Last of Us as something which needs to be improved. I am pretty sure the majority of you will agree with me on that!
With that said, what if I told you that someone has made the ending even better? It’s so good, that even Neil Druckmann, Creative Director and writer at Naughty Dog, is in awe:
According to Druckmann’s twitter feed, this ending puts the original to shame and I couldn’t agree more.
The alternative ending was posted on NeoGaf by a fan named Erevador. You can read his post below but even though it’s an alternate ending, players who haven’t played the game should know that it contains potential spoilers.
So without further ado, here it is:
Ellie and Joel are driving away from the hospital. He has saved her, and murdered the fireflies. In the rearview mirror, Joel sees a car approaching. He lightly hits the gas pedal, trying to put a little distance between him and the car that follows. The car keeps gaining on him, it pulls up beside him. Joel looks out the window and sees the last person he wants to see right now. It is Vin Diesel. A relic from Joel’s dark drift racing past. Vin gives Joel a look that only says one thing. This challenge is on baby.
Brilliant! That ending with a mixture of Fast and Furious and The Last of Us was just incredible and even Neil thinks it’s amazing. Hmm… Makes me wonder, what it would be like to have Vin Diesel in the next The Last of Us, IF it ever happens?
